30 Minute Chocolate Crinkle Cookies (pass)

These are fudgy chocolate cookies that don't need any chill time - you can have them done in 30 minutes. The double sugar coating gives them that classic cracked look.

Ingredients

~18 cookies

  • 1/3 cup neutral oil
  • 1/2 cup light or dark brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg at room temperature
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/4 cup dutch process cocoa powder sifted
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • Powdered sugar for rolling
  • Granulated sugar for rolling

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 325F and line baking sheets with parchment.
  • Mix oil, sugars, egg, and vanilla with electric mixer for 1 minute until glossy.
  • Sift salt, cocoa, flour, and baking soda together.
  • Fold dry ingredients into wet mixture until dough forms.
  • Prepare separate bowls with granulated and powdered sugar.
  • Scoop 2 tablespoon dough portions and roll first in granulated sugar.
  • Shape into ball, then coat generously in powdered sugar.
  • Place 6 cookies per tray, 2 inches apart.
  • Bake 12-13 minutes until edges are set.
  • Cool on pan 10 minutes, then transfer to wire rack.

Notes

Store in airtight container up to 5 days. Cookies will develop more cracks while cooling.
