Holiday Cheese Ball

This is the cheese ball that shows up at every family gathering – it’s simple, feeds a crowd, and disappears fast. The pecans give it a nice crunch against all that creamy cheese.

Ingredients

Ingredients (~8 servings)

  • 2 packages cream cheese 8 oz, softened but still slightly firm
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 6 oz shredded medium cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 3/4 cup pecans chopped small

Instructions

  • Mix cream cheese, sour cream, garlic powder, onion powder, and pepper in a bowl with an electric mixer until smooth, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Add shredded cheddar and mix until evenly distributed.
  • Cover and chill for 1 hour until firm.
  • Use a spatula to gather the mixture into a rough ball, then roll with lightly greased hands into a smooth ball.
  • Place chopped pecans in a bowl and roll the cheese ball through them, pressing gently to coat the entire surface.
  • Serve with crackers and a butter knife for spreading.
  • Store covered in the refrigerator for up to a week.

Notes

Lightly grease your hands when shaping to prevent sticking.
