Salted Brown Butter Rice Crispy Treats
These aren't the basic rice crispy treats from your childhood. This version uses brown butter for a nutty, caramelized flavor and is finished with a sprinkle of flaky sea salt to balance the sweetness of the marshmallows.

Ingredients
Ingredients (~24 squares)

unsalted butter
10 1/2 tbsp, cubed

vanilla extract
▢

fine salt
▢
1
bag mini marshmallows
16 oz

cups
crispy rice cereal
▢
Flaky sea salt
for topping
Instructions
Grease 9x13-inch pan and line with parchment paper, leaving overhang.
Melt butter in large pot over medium heat, stirring until golden brown and nutty.
Turn off heat, stir in vanilla and fine salt.
Add marshmallows to brown butter, stir until completely melted.
Fold in cereal until evenly coated.
Transfer to prepared pan and press into even layer.
Sprinkle with flaky sea salt.
Let cool completely for 1 hour before slicing.
Notes
For softer treats, press mixture lightly. For firmer treats, press firmly.
