Homemade Taco Seasoning

Making your own taco seasoning takes 2 minutes and costs about half as much as the store packets. Plus you control the salt and can skip the weird preservatives.

Ingredients

Ingredients (~1/2 cup seasoning mix)

  • 1/4 cup chili powder
  • 2 Tbsp ground cumin
  • 1 Tbsp sea salt
  • 1 Tbsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 tsp dried oregano

Instructions

  • Add chili powder, cumin, salt, black pepper, onion powder, paprika, garlic powder, red pepper flakes, and oregano to a small bowl.
  • Whisk until well combined with no streaks of individual spices.
  • Pour into an airtight glass jar or container.
  • Label with the date.

Notes

Store in pantry for up to 6 months; best flavor in first 3 months. Use 2-3 Tbsp per pound of ground meat for tacos.
