Oreo Balls

By Sam Pierce

Ingredients (~36 balls)

  • 1 1/2 packages Oreo cookies
  • 12 oz cream cheese, room temperature
  • 18 oz candy melts (any flavor or color)
  • sprinkles (optional)

Crush the Oreos into Fine Crumbs

Take the cream cheese out of the fridge first so it can come to room temperature while you work.

Place the entire Oreo cookies – both the chocolate wafers and cream center – in a food processor. Pulse until they’re crushed into fine crumbs.

If you don’t have a food processor, put the cookies in a plastic bag and use a rolling pin to smash them as finely as possible.

Mix Oreos with Cream Cheese

Place the room temperature cream cheese in the bowl of a stand mixer. Use the paddle attachment to beat until smooth.

You can also do this by hand with a stiff spatula or use an electric hand mixer.

Pour the crushed Oreos into the bowl with the cream cheese and mix until fully combined. The mixture should hold together when pressed.

Form the Balls and Freeze

Use a small cookie scoop to divide the mixture into 1 tablespoon portions. Roll each portion into a ball with your hands.

Arrange the balls on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Place in the freezer for 30-60 minutes so they firm up.

This step is important – if they’re not firm enough, they’ll fall apart when you dip them in chocolate.

Melt Chocolate and Dip the Balls

Melt the candy melts according to package directions. Most can be melted in the microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring between each interval, until completely smooth.

Working with one ball at a time, use a fork to lower it into the melted chocolate. Use a spatula to scrape off excess chocolate before placing back on the baking sheet.

If you’re using sprinkles, add them immediately before the chocolate sets up.

Store in the refrigerator for up to 5 days in an airtight container.

Oreo Balls

All you need is a sleeve of Oreos, cream cheese, and some candy melts – that’s it. These freeze well and are perfect when you need something sweet but don’t want to turn on the oven.
