Oreo Balls

By Sam Pierce

Ingredients (~36 balls)

  • 1 1/2 packages Oreo cookies
  • 12 oz cream cheese, room temperature
  • 18 oz candy melts (any flavor or color)
  • sprinkles (optional)

 Crush Oreos Into Crumbs

First, set the cream cheese out to warm up to room temperature.

Using a food processor, crush all the Oreos (cookies and cream center) into fine crumbs.

If you don’t have a food processor, place the cookies in a zip-top bag and use a rolling pin to smash them into as fine a crumb as possible.

Combine the Crushed Oreos With the Cream Cheese

Using a stand mixer, place the cream cheese into the bowl and use the paddle attachment to beat until smooth.

Alternatively, you can mix the cream cheese by hand using a stiff spatula or you can use an electric hand mixer.

Add the Oreos into the cream cheese mixture and stir together until fully incorporated; the mixture should be cohesive when pressed together.

Shape Balls and Freeze

Using a small cookie scoop, portion out the mixture into 1 tablespoon portions.

Once portioned, roll each portion of the mixture into a ball shape using your hands.

Spread the balls on a cookie sheet that has been lined with parchment paper and place in the freezer to chill for 30-60 minutes.

It is very important that the mixture is adequately frozen; otherwise, the balls will fall apart when you dip them in chocolate.

Melt Chocolate and Dip the Balls

Melt the candy melts according to package directions; for most, you can microwave them at 30-second intervals, stirring each time until melted and smooth.

Once melted, take one ball and use a fork to lower it into the melted chocolate, then use a spatula to remove excess chocolate from the ball before putting it back onto the cookie sheet.

If you are using sprinkles, sprinkle them on immediately after dipping the balls in chocolate.

Store the Oreo balls in an airtight container for up to 5 days in the refrigerator.

Oreo Balls

All you need is a sleeve of Oreos, cream cheese, and some candy melts – that’s it. These freeze well and are perfect when you need something sweet but don’t want to turn on the oven.
