Cheesy Garlic Bread

By Sam Pierce

Ingredients (~6 servings)

  • 6 Tbsp butter, softened
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 1/2 tsp fresh chives, finely chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 loaf sourdough bread
  • 3/4 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/3 cup parmesan cheese, grated

Preheat the Oven and Prepare the Bread

Preheat the oven to 400°F and prepare a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper.

Cut the sourdough into approximately 1/2 inch slices, thick enough to support the toppings without being too thick to fully heat.

Mix Garlic Herb Butter

Combine softened butter, chopped garlic, and chives in a small bowl.

Then add salt and taste; there should be a balance of saltiness that enhances the garlic without dominating it.

Butter should still be a spreadable consistency and not melted.

Assemble and Bake Bread

Spread the garlic herb butter evenly over each slice of bread, ensuring to go all the way to the edges to avoid burning.

Sprinkle both types of cheese on top of the buttered bread slices.

Bake for about 15-18 minutes until cheese is melted and starting to brown on top.

The bread’s outer edges should be toasted but the centre should have a little “give” if pressed.

Eat while cheese is bubbling hot.

Cheesy Garlic Bread

This is all stuff I typically have on hand and takes about 25 minutes start to finish. Way better than the frozen stuff and you can control how garlicky it gets.
