Cheesy Garlic Bread

By Sam Pierce

Ingredients (~6 servings)

  • 6 Tbsp butter, softened
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 1/2 tsp fresh chives, finely chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 loaf sourdough bread
  • 3/4 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/3 cup parmesan cheese, grated

Preheat Oven and Prep the Bread

Get your oven to 400F and line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper.

Slice the sourdough into ~1/2 inch thick slices – you want them thick enough to hold the toppings but not so thick they don’t heat through.

Make the Garlic Herb Butter

In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, minced garlic, and chives.

Add a pinch of salt and taste – you want enough salt to bring out the garlic flavor without overpowering it.

The butter should be soft enough to spread easily but not melted.

Assemble and Bake the Bread

Spread the garlic herb butter evenly on each slice of bread – make sure you get it all the way to the edges so nothing burns.

Sprinkle both cheeses on top of the buttered slices.

Bake for ~15-18 minutes or until the cheese is melted and starting to turn golden brown on top.

The edges of the bread should be crispy but the center should still have some give when you press it.

Serve immediately while the cheese is still bubbly.

Cheesy Garlic Bread

This is all stuff I typically have on hand and takes about 25 minutes start to finish. Way better than the frozen stuff and you can control how garlicky it gets.
