Easy Spinach Dip

By Sam Pierce

Ingredients (~8 servings)

  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 3/4 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1/4 tsp freshly cracked black pepper
  • 1/8 tsp cayenne
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 10 oz frozen chopped spinach, thawed and drained
  • 2 Tbsp minced chives, plus more for garnish
  • Carrot and celery sticks, for serving
  • Blue corn tortilla chips or crackers, for serving
  • French bread or baguette, for serving

Squeeze Out All the Water from the Spinach

This is the most important step – thaw the spinach completely and then squeeze it in a clean kitchen towel or paper towels.

You want to get as much water out as possible; otherwise the dip will be thin and watery instead of thick and creamy.

Keep squeezing until barely any water comes out when you press hard.

Mix All the Base Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the sour cream, mayonnaise, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and cayenne.

Add the Dijon mustard and Worcestershire sauce and mix until smooth.

The mixture should be thick and well combined.

Fold in the Spinach and Chives

Add the squeezed-out spinach and chives to the creamy base.

Fold everything together until the spinach is evenly distributed throughout.

Taste and adjust salt or pepper if needed – the spinach can dilute the flavors a bit.

Serve with Your Favorite Dippers

Sprinkle extra chives on top for garnish.

Serve immediately with carrot sticks, celery, tortilla chips, crackers, or sliced French bread.

The dip will keep in the fridge for 3-4 days and actually tastes better after sitting for an hour to let the flavors meld.

Easy Spinach Dip

This takes about 15 minutes to throw together. The longest part is just squeezing out all the water from the spinach – which you really need to do or the dip gets watery.
